When a group text is still fine
For a small team that already knows each other (say, a worship team of eight), a group thread is perfectly good. The line to watch for is when you are messaging people who did not personally agree to be in the thread, when replies start getting noisy, or when you are sharing people's phone numbers without their okay. At that point a platform saves you both the headache and the compliance risk.
